My Story

Lisa Miller

When I was 31 years old, I started feeling extreme nerve pain in my fingers. I ignored it until it got so bad I was afraid I was going to have to stop doing massage. I also had really bad knee pain. I had a hard time getting to the floor or getting up from the floor, which was difficult with a 1 year old. I felt pain in other joints as well. The chiropractor was able to help the pain in my fingers because it stemmed from a pinched nerve in my neck. The knee pain got better but never fully went away. Then at age 38, my pinky finger started deforming at the tip. A year later my other pinky and my pointer finger started to bend. I found out through blood work it was rheumatoid arthritis (RA). I refused to go on the medications for RA so I went on a search for what I could do so I wouldn’t lose the use of my fingers. I am a massage therapist and I was really scared I was going to lose the use of my fingers and my career. With the support of my chiropractor I found alternative ways to treat my RA. First, I eliminated all sugars, processed flours and seed oils from my diet. After eight months I felt so much better but could still feel the inflammation in my fingers. So I kept researching. I came upon the low carb/keto/carnivore diet and Dr. Ken Berry’s BBBE (beef, butter, bacon and eggs) challenge. I decided to try it for 90 days. Within a week I felt a huge difference. The inflammation was pretty much gone. My fingers were still bent but they didn’t hurt like they did before. Since changing my diet I feel better and I can feel the other joints in my body are stronger.

I was afraid I was going to hurt and debilitated for the rest of my life from age 39! I was afraid I was not going to be able to support my family and have to come up with a new career. But since I have discovered what real nutrition is and have implemented it in my own life, I have a renewed hope that I can be healthy and strong for the rest of my life. That I will be able to get down and play with my grandchildren when that time comes. That I can still be active with my kids now! I have more energy then ever and I feel healthier then I ever have. I understand how food affects us and I want others to have hope in getting their lives back or expanding their ability to enjoy their lives. I know that what we eat can be powerful in maintaining our health. That our disease or obesity can get better by what we eat or do not eat. There are other aspects of leading healthy lives, like managing stress, quality sleep, and exercise, but my biggest change in my health started with addressing my diet and my mindset of what was healthy and what was making my body sick. I want to help others find that for themselves.
